Blank screen after 10-12 minutes on Debian

Every now and then whenever there is no activity(if I do not use mouse and keyboard) for 10-12 minutes on my computer(Debian Sarge), the screen goes blank. If I press any key or just move the mouse, the screen comes back. What could be the reason? Is this some kind of Standby mode or ACPI issue? Also the monitor light is still green(and not orange).

I am sure it is not the screen saver issue. Someone told me to use
Code:

#setterm -blank 0
Although, I haven;t tried that. Anyone has any ideas?

Do you have DPMS turned on for monitor? It shows in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 or you might have turned it on under kde display settings or gnome>desktop>Preferences>energy saving. On my pc I have DPMS on with screensaver; so after a period of inactivity screensaver starts until I touch key or move mouse.
