Calculate Linux 11.12 released
You are welcome to choose between several flavours: Calculate Directory Server (CDS) if you need a server option; Calculate Linux Desktop featuring a KDE (CLD), GNOME (CLDG) or XFCE (CLDX) desktop; Calculate Media Center (CMC) if a media center is what you want; or, if you would rather prefer a scratch distribution, either Calculate Linux Scratch (CLS) or Calculate Scratch Server (CSS).

I just tried out Calculate Linux Desktop 11.12 XFCE. As a long-time Gentoo user, I must say that I am HIGHLY impressed. Wireless worked right off the ISO, and the resolution of my tv was detected properly. Something the brand new Gentoo Live DVD couldn't accomplish.
For me, this makes the absolute perfect liveCD to install Gentoo from. su in a console, and start installing Gentoo, all while having a fully working desktop to still be able to use. The ISO images you provide are also a lot more up to date than most distros. Considering I have a new Zacate netbook on the way, I wanted something with a more recent kernel. This should fit the bill nicely. I also administer computers for other people. For them, I tend to use LMDE or Vector, but now I'm going to use Calculate Linux for them. If something ever goes wrong, I'm better able to fix a Gentoo based system vs. a Debian one. I don't think that will be an issue very much however. Everything looks well layed out and polished. Thank you. |

I've downloaded the 11.12 XFCE version, but I'm not able to boot the Live DVD. The problem is that I have an Intel onboard graphic and a Radeon PCI card that I'm using. The System persists in using the onboard graphic that has no monitor attached and I don't know what to do in order to make it use the Radeon card. I never had such a problem with any other Linux distro. The BIOS is set to use the "add-on card" and not "onboard" and I've tried to remove the complete "video=" boot option, but no change.

I managed to install from commandline (cl-install...*puuh*) and adjust xorg.conf. Seems to work booting from hd now...
