I had a lot of trouble trying to get win32 codecs installed. In the end, this is how I did it on FC5 x86_64. It will obviously be different on different distros, but the theory should work.
first, do then do from here you can install 32bit applications - though you may need to yum remove some of the 64bit dependencies if they exist already. Using this I have succesfully installed xine, gxine (and plugin for mozilla), all the win32 codecs. It has also enabled me to install 32bit Firefox, therefore enabling me to install many more plugins than on the 64bit edition.
