Unreadable posts caused by publicity

but the publicity posted in the forums is so big, that you cannot read the posts anymore.

I must say, I'm here almost every day and have observed nothing of that nature.

As an aside, I normally use Firefox.

Are you using it without logging in? Have you tried using adblock?

Well I'm always logged in and I have Firefox but no addblocker.

But if you look to the screenshot, you should also confirm, that this is not a pleasure.

From my point of view, this is a question of webdesign.
The banner is able to push the content so much to the right side,
that the post is no more readable.

I am in many forums, but I have never seen banners inside of content cells.

It's just a suggestion ...

Install uBlock Origin and it'll get rid of that crap, and make your general web experience far nicer.

So? Follow the link and scroll down to the readme: it is a browser plugin, and thus OS-agnostic.

OK, understand ..

Works not bad.
Do not use this stuff so long.

But this publicity banners sometimes drive me crazy.

You should not be seeing ads while logged in, it's possible this ad is being injected somewhere else.

Nevertheless, I feel the OP has a valid point... I have been meaning to bring this up before.

New users who come here looking for help, finding this site via a search engine, only to be presented with what amounts to an utter mess, with huge ads actually embedded in the posts, probably won't stick around for long. It presents the site as a "low value" result. If I had seen LQ in that state back in 2005, I would have moved along. Nowadays its more likely they will - to the plethora of alternatives. I fully understand the site needs revenue, but the ads should not be positioned to as to be intrusive, distracting and disruptive to the layout.

"It's ok with ad/script blockers"
and/or
"it's ok if you're logged in"
is not a solution.

BTW if logged in, the publicity is still there.
Only way is add-blocker.
But this i never have to use with other sites.

You might try a browser change. I use FireFox with blocking extensions and secure settings, but I also have Vivaldi and it seem to do a good job.

I never see any ads

Ran tests. I cannot replicate this behavior with any of my browsers!
Chromium came closest, but Brave, Vivaldi, Falkon, and Firefox all did well. Dillo would not open the page at all, I think it lacks https support.
I did not test the TOR browser, or Links.
