Open terminal from right click
Hi everybody
I have been trying to add "open in terminal" to the right click menu but for the life of me haven't been successful. I have scoured the net for what I thought would be something easy, but it ain't. Some hints suggested that "nautilus-open-terminal" is in the synaptic package manager which it isn't. I had updated, tried "sudo apt-get install nautilus-open-terminal" which doesn't work, and I don't seem to be able to find anything else. I have Zorin 15 running and would appreciate any help with this. |
what desktop are you using?

Just the standard install. I've just changed the background so it is very much like a standard Ubuntu setup. Sorry if that doesn't answer precisely as I don't know my desktops that well. I came from Ubuntu 18.04 to Zorin 15 because Zorin runs much better on my Dells. I suppose the main thing is that I haven't installed anything beyond what Zorin 15 came with. I hope that answers it.

Thanks for that reply. Interesting.
If I run "sudo apt install nautilus-admin" from one of those search results it does allow for "open in terminal" for folders/directories not individual files. For example what I am trying to do is open a text file that has in it the command "./Sphere" that launches the Sphere browser. Sure, I can easily type it but the "open terminal" command saves me a click or two. I know that this can be done because in my quest to install and run the Sphere browser the youtube vid that I saw had the guy right click a text file Sphere.sh (which has the ./Sphere line in it) and open in the terminal and run it automatically. Being a really newcomer to this I thought that this would be a handy thing to have. I also like being able to do as described above, being able to go straight to a directory without using terminal commands to get me there. Everywhere I look the advice is to run "sudo apt-get install nautilus-open-terminal' but it won't play ball with me. Going through the rest of those search results didn't provide any new info. I suppose the question is, does anybody else with Zorin 15 have this ability to open a single text file in the terminal as I have described? As an aside, and off topic, are you familiar with the latest concerns with Startpage and privacy? I'll probably get jumped on for introducing this into this thread but I figure you're using Startpage for its privacy cred so this might interest you: http://techrights.org/2019/10/16/sta...-surveillance/ I don't intend to start a conversation about this but you may be interested, as I am, about search engines and their integrity. |

1. Have you made the file executable? 2. Does Nautilus have an option to Execute files when double-clicked? |
