microsoft wireless optical desktop 1000

I've installed zenwalk 3.0 and am having difficutlties with my microsoft wireless optical desktop 1000 keyboard and mouse. Both connect through 1 reciever which connects through a single usb port. I'm dual booting with winxp and it works fine in windows. I've also used it with a few other distro's which had no issues with it. When I boot into zenwalk the optical light in the mouse doesn't come on and the lights on the reciever stay off. The keyboard does work when I furst turn on the system, meaning I can boot into and navigate my bios without a problem and I can also navigate LILO. But as soon as I boot into zenwalk the mouse and keyboard both go dead.

Would appreciate any help.

I have a Wireless Comfort Keyboard, and I have the same problems. I'm trying to get Slack to work..
Which dists have you used that that your keyboard worked on? Or did find the problem?

I've actually replaced the mouse/keyboard because of the amount of trouble I've had. The only distro I've gotten to work perfectly is Suse 10. I've gotten it to work in Mandriva 2006 but the mouse is very jerky and laggy. Other than that I can't get any response from the mouse or keyboard in any other distro.
