Vector 5.8 std Mouse setup help

I've recently began to move to linux and I picked Vector as my distro. every thing's been going perfectly so far except one minor detail.
my mouse isn't being correctly detected. its the logitech g5 gaming mouse (wired). frankly i don't care if i have any of the extra features, all i want is 2 button plus wheel. all I've gotten to work so far though is just the 2 buttons, the mouses tracking is working perfectly fine as well.

The easiest thing to try is to set it up with VASM.

choose VASM from the menu, then:
SUPER -> (enter root password) -> HARDWARE -> MOUSESET

if that doesn't work, you could also try to set it up with
Code:

xorgcfg -textmode

There is also a short tutorial on how to set up this mouse in linux, which may be of help to you in VL. I found it by googling for "logitech g5 linux", which brought back lots of results, so hopefully The Headacher's technique will work, but if not, one of the google results may help.
