diskette loads but can't see the CD
All,
I have downloaded VictorLinux (VL) 5 creating a single CD ISO and two floppy diskettes. bare.i rootdisk.img VL-5.0std-RC1.iso I am able to boot Linux with the two diskettes, but I can't seem to get VL to find the ISO. VL says install application says it doesn't know what to do with my CD. The PC I'm using is an IBM 380ED Laptop. The CD works but the PC will not boot from the CD... It's is suppost to boot but it won't. I have been using RedHat 9 and want to replace it with a leaner Linux. I loaded RH9 from a diskette and the CD that came with the Distro. Can someone help with my CD problem? Bob |
did you burn the iso as an image?, if yes then maybe it was a bad burn, so try again but try a slower speed.

I did burn the CD and then checked it with md5sum and it returned the right value... I rebooted and started my machine with RH9 and was able to /mnt/cdrom and copy the contents to the hard drive... so I know the cd works...
What other ideas? |
Is your cdrom drive supported by the kernel
Your cdrom drive probally isn't supported by the bare.i kernel try booting it with the oldcd.i kernel.
It worked for me. |
