I have installed Ubuntu Warty and everything has gone very good, but here are some of the following things that I seem to see that it has problems with:

1. At boot time i get an error that the bios is outdated and it won't work very stably and could crash the system. It suggests that I should boot with nobiospnp, I have done that but it seems to do nothing. I have added on the kernel boot parameters along with ro quiet splash but nothing.

2. Second I get an error hw_random its a fatal modprobe error, I have no idea what that is. Any clues?

3. When hooking up the ipod apperantly it cannot id the filesystem in the fstab it is set like this:

/dev/sda /media/ipod auto ro,user,noauto 0 0

and changing the auto to vfat does nothing, with auto it cannot read the superblock, someone said this is because of EFI in the kernel, but after trying it on Mandrake 10.1 the pod worked, so EFI is not the problem.

I am new with debian based systems, I like this distro but I feel its not really for everyday use, I find that Mandrake seems to play better with my hardware.

I don't have an iPod, but for 1 and 2, I get these errors at startup as well, but in a month of using Warty, I haven't had any issues. Maybe just add quiet to your boot options and see if you make the errors disappear?

1. Is your BIOS up to date? If not, have you tried updating it?

2. I've seen this error as well and it's documented (somewhat) on the Ubuntu forums..if you want to take a look.

3. Can't help you there, sorry.

the first two errors are benign.

but to fix them, just recompile the kernel and remove plug and play bios support (in plug and play section) and the intel hw random number generator (in device drivers > character devices (i think)). your system won't be any more stable or faster after doing this so it's not really a big deal. (i know from experience ... had the same thing)

not sure about the third one either. are you sure it's not /dev/sda1 or something else?

Yes I have noticed that the errors don't seem to affect anything, and on the other comment, the bios is up to date. The mobo that I have is an Asus P4PE2-X and the newest bios is 1005, that is the one that I have installed. Right now I am on Mandrake 10.1, and it seems very harmonious, but I will learn how to recompile the kernel on Ubuntu and give that a try. Other then those things and the gui not really working on mplayer everything in the OS seems very good. Thanks for the comments, and its not really that much of a big deal, its just annoying.... I know I should just ignore it.
