Network Port problem KUbuntu 23.04
 

I have two hardwire network connections, one motherboard and other a pci card. Both work fine hardware wise. But there is a problem.

I configure the ports with the standard KDE GUI. For this conversion, I name them 'port 1' and 'port 2'. The configuration worked fine. Appear to be using network manager.

port 1 (manual, static IP, netmask)
port 2 (DHCP address only, manual DNS)

However when I go to the network icon on the taskbar I see 4 connections, two connected, two not. Psuedo actual names here as I don't remember the actual assigned interface names like eno1)

port 1 (eth0) disconnected
port 2 (eth1) disconnected
port 1 (eth1) connected
port 2 (eth0) connected

I wonder why four? I've deleted all connections re-added, but same problem.

Secondly (the big problem) when I reboot, the ports may or may not be connected to the correct two ports (from the four above). So sometimes I have to disconnect and reconnect from the network icon to get it to work properly after logging in.

I've went to the network manager etc/ folder and check connections and there are only two entries. Also checked in the files and yes, setup only one interface per connection. So all looks good here, I think.

Ok. Figured it out . There is an option to to 'restrict' the connection to a given interface.

System Settings->Connections->Wired->Restrict to device : <device here>

Fixed... One of those 'duh' moments....
