Cannot print after upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04
Hi, I upgraded from 19.10 recently and now I can't print on my Canon mp190 printer. The printer is recognised and I can scan. When I try to print I'm told that the printer is not configured. I have tried reinstalling 20.04 with the printer switched on but no joy. Has anybody shared this experience and, more importantly, found the solution!
Thanks in advance, Spats |
Did you install a suitable printer driver? This gutenprint supported printers page lists the MP190 as being supported. So perhaps all you need to do is install gutenprint drivers?
Code:
sudo apt install printer-driver-gutenprint |
Many thanks for getting back to me. I tried your suggestion but it didn't work.
I ended up, in total frustration, reinstalling 18.04 which works beautifully. I've got to try to not be tempted to always update and upgrade when there is absolutely no need. I should be ok for the next three years! |
Ok...although it should have been possible to drill into this further to see what was missing, mis-configured etc. This was just the start. Anyway, your choice.

As I have more important things on my mind at the moment I acted out of total frustration. I'll have another go when the time is right.
Thanks again for your help. |
