LXer: CLI Companion - Incredible Tool to Learn Command Line

Published at LXer:

CLI Companion is a really useful tool especially if you are a complete newcomer to Linux and Ubuntu and totally unaware of ways to understand command line. Ironically, CLI Companion lets you learn and enjoy command line using its simple GUI.

Ironic is a good word for this. At first I thought, "LOL a GUI for the commandline? This makes no sense". But having checked it out briefly (via the link/website only), it actually looks rather nifty, especially for CLI newbs! I might even think about installing it myself to see what it's all about..

Thanks LXer.

It does look rather neat. I can always use extra cli help.

Huh! Two Slackers wanting something designed for Ubuntuists and Debianites! You should be ashamed of yourselves! May BOB forgive you! :tisk:
:)

Debianites????

brianL 12-03-2010 02:54 PM

Yeah. Debianites = users of Debian (my 2nd favourite distro). :)

Let he who is without GUI cast the first stone.

Ah, but I don't use one for the terminal! That's cheating! :tisk: :)

May Bob forgive me. I saw that the download was .deb and I backed away. Couldn't find the source code, so I reckon its not to be.

I know nothing of Debian. The only thing I've used it for was to set a cold beer on.

src2pkg might work on it, it can convert other distro's packages to Slackware packages.

I understand that, but why consider you this as a tool for Debianites? I think about feeling personally attacked ! :D

H_TeXMeX_H 12-03-2010 03:26 PM

I think it's blasphemy. They had to make a GUI about how to use the CLI ...

It's a .deb file. You Debianites are too sensitive. :D

I may be a total noob, but isn't this the source?
