Xine fails after Mysql,Apache,PHP install 9.2
Really weird problem here.
Bog Standard 9.2 Suse Pro install -- Great everything worked --accepted basic defaults. Removed the SUSE supplied XINE, Libraries, etc. Re-installed from that very well known Brazillian site with Libdvdcss, and the Windoze codecs as well. Ensured that the navigation and read modules were installed (dvdread / dvdnav). Ensured correct symbolic linkages were OK note however that SUSE 9.2 uses /media/dvdrecorder if you have a DVD writer instead of /dev/dvd. Xine worked perfectly --both as Root and as a User -- great sound as well. Now I like using L.A.M.P (Linux, Apache, Mysql, Php) combo. Installed --worked first go (after editing Config file) set up webserver on http://localhost (127.0.0.1) BUT NOW Xine refuses to work anymore -- no amount of purges and re-installs work --- always get XINE Engine error ???? Now so many people have got XINE working I really must be doing something stupid -- I can't believe MySQL, Apache or Php is responsible for breaking XINE. I haven't tried compiling from source --but as the original Binary RPM worked something's gone "missing". Any help PLEEEEEEEASE --- I really don't want to have to boot into 'Doze for this --especially now Mysql is working great on my linux box. Thanks |
Have you tried a repair install of Suse? It seems to catch things when nothing else works. Then remove the Suse xine-ui and library. Install them using Yast connected to one of the other sites mentioned in this forum.
