(How) Connect wireless Suse 11 live cd
I installed rt2860 via ndiswrapper - modprobe
setup wireless via internet devices and set host name and key. Connection shows up in network manager but will not connect. I guess I should mention that I am doing this from live cd, no wired connection. JB |
rt2860 shows to have a native linux driver here
http://www.ralinktech.com/ralink/Hom...ort/Linux.html If you are using native linux driver you do not need ndiswrapper. Check and see if your card will work without installing any drivers, Suse 11 comes with about 4 drivers. Go to YaST and network devices - network settings and see if your card is recognised. |
Thanks Lary, but no the card is not installed by suse, it dose seem to install fine with ndiswrapper and dose come up in network manager the problem is it just doesn't connect.
JB Edit: I'm new to Suse and perhaps I'm missing something in the setup in yast. |
If you are using ndiswrapper you need to put that in the module box in your network setup box. Set the firewall to external and set the operation to managed.
If none of this works, in terminal as root give us the results of iwconfig and ifconfig. |

JB Edit: does the system need to be rebooted for this to setup properly |
If you are using ndiswrapper you will have to blacklist some of the drivers Suse uses. Check out my last post here. This is for a broadcom chipset but you can try by substituting your driver for the broadcom one.
