Remote CDE Connection
We are currently running Solaris 10 (release 9/10). Its running on T5140 headless. It was installed with remote services turned off. We have to run in a fairly locked down environment so SSH and tcp_wrappers are on and about everything else was turned off.
It turns out we need to make X connections for our developers. In the end we would like to provide them with a CDE login from Windows 7 boxes using KEA! Our Solaris 9 boxes are working fine. The service graphical-login/cde-login is enabled and dtlogin -deamon process is running. When we go to connect all we get is grey screen reminiscent of a xdm environment, but with no option to login and a far cry from the CDE login. Any ideas? John |
You might have a look at the cde-login and related services properties to see if they aren't local only.

Solution
Apparently even though some of the instructions didn't say it required a reboot, we finally did for some patching and when we brought the system back up it started working, go figure.
