reaching runlevel 4 automaticly & alsa
hi i have just re-installed slackware 10 after using suse 9.2 pro 64bit and would like it to boot straight into runlevel 4 instead of runlevel 3 and without logging in first and typing init 4. I have used slackware befor and loved it thats why i keep coming back to it but this is the first time i have tried doing this in slackware and i dont full understand the BSD styll init

thanks got it working fine now just having some trouble with alsa now though.
i can get my soudcard running by running alsoconf and it works until i restart the machine and then i have to run alsaconf again. is there any way i can get it to save my settings some how? thanks again for any help |
once your configure the settings how you want them use: "alsactl store" that should do it.

ok i have done that but still the same problem. wen i start up again if i run "alsactl restore" it works again. its as if "alsactl restore" or a command like it needs to be run during startup. if this is the problem how could i fix it or make it so the sound device starts automaticly

Put the alsactl restore command into your /etc/rc.local script
