how stable is the current repository right now?
I'm a slackware renegade happily using Mageia but 15 is tempting me to switch back. Is there any mass rebuild in the road to the release? |

For me, very stable. If you're unlucky enough to be bitten by kernel problems/lockups with the 5.10.x series, then probably not so much. Then again, 5.11.x is available in /testing and I've read here that it's sorted out some people's issues.

Slackware64 -current is my daily driver.
No issues at all for me. |

Having NVidia problems with X both kde/plasma and xfce and both proprietary and nouveau drivers. HDMI does not wake up from +dpms, requiring reboot. xset s off and xset -dpms along with activating xscreensaver is a workaround. I thought the nvidia-persistenced would help but no joy.

I wouldn't jump on until 15.0 is out. It's believed that not much time is left.

Current has been very stable for me over the past year and continues to be so. I ought to point out that my current does not include kde, xfce, and e. So I can't speak for a full install.
|
Quite stable, but there is still enough work to be done.
This is due to the small number of developers in the team and the very large number of problems/improvements to be solved.:) |
As stable as it has always been, for me at least.
|
I'm running -current64 with kernel 5.4.102 and Enlightenment window manager. I'd say it's very stable for daily desktop use.

For the past week I have been diligently testing updating 14.2 to Current. About half the time on one system I get some kind of system crash dump when performing a three finger salute to reboot. No conclusions at this time. Could very well be PEBKAC since I'm still testing.

I'll be very interested to read the official documentation on how to upgrade to 15.0. There are many big changes from 14.2------>15.0. I have done upgrades to -current from 14.2, but, that was quite a while ago. These days it's just easier for me to do a clean install of Slackware64-current and then bring in my back-ups. |
I'd say there is no reason not to use it if you want to have Slackware back. If you get a current -current ISO, since we're close to a release, it should be easy to keep up with package upgrades and you'll just roll right into the final. As said, there are no more planned rebuilds (and there should be no reason to at this stage). (and that would put me off too, I didn't do a new install I was planning for another box until after that was announced)
