Calm Window Manager Port 2 Slackware?
Hello. I would like to know if anyone is considering a port of OpenBSD's 'calm window manager' to Slackware Linux. Does such a port already exist?
If not, then I might try to make a port myself. In fact, I may just rewrite the codebase using C++, which I prefer over C. If I do this, how many would consider trying it out? calm window manager, or cwm, is a super minimalist window manager that is really low on system resources, and that gets out of the way immediately, and just lets the user work. It also has a very nice and clean aesthetic. Also, if I do decide to rewrite the codebase, then I'll be needing up to date information on the Xlib api. I am aware that gtk+ or some other wrapper is usually encouraged, but for our purposes, they'd be overkill, so I'd much rather work with xlib directly. Does anyone know where I could find the documentation? :edit: Nevermind. I've found the documentation. :) |
A while back I installed CWM from the source in the following repo: https://github.com/chneukirchen/cwm which I found through on Archlinux's AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/cwm-git/.
