I replaced my mandrake installation with SUSE pro9 on a machine that is dual booted with windows now when i select windows from the Lilo boot options i get the error

Filesystem type unknown, parttion type 0x7
chainloader +1

Does anyone know what the problems is. Any help would be appreciated.

Grub doesn't know the partition type so can't attempt to mount the partition. Try rootnoverify instead.
see also this link for further info

You have to add it in your /boot/grub/menu.lst file and everything should be OK

Ok my etc/grub.conf file looks like this

root (hd0,1)
install --stage2=/boot/grub/stage2 /boot/grub/stage1 d (hd0) /boot/grub/stage2 0x8000 (hd0,1)/boot/grub/menu.lst
quit

and my /boot/grub/menu.1st file looks like

color white/blue black/light-gray
default 0
timeout 8
gfxmenu (hd0,1)/boot/message

after making the modification to the above windwos hard drive i stopped getting the error unknown partion now it just does nothing no error just won't boot. If i disconnect the linux hard drive and se the windows hard drive as master it boots fine. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
