I have vi loded

I typed gedit /etc/host cause I'm trying to solve this error

Quote:
Could not lookup internet add. for host3-null. this prevents gnome form operating correctly it may be possible to correct the problem by adding host3null to file
Now I'm screen that says

# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

And a guy says this ....

Quote:
1. su
<enter root password>
2. kwrite /etc/hosts
<edit file, save it, exit out of kwrite>
3. kwrite /etc/sysconfig/network
<edit file, save it, exit out of kwrite>

since changing these files requires a reboot, you can use this command so you don't have to reboot.

4. hostname your_name_choice_for_your_computer
But I don't know what to put to edit the file I don't want to mess up my internet connection so pleas help me. And tell me what to put to fix that above error

He says use Kwrite but I'am using gedit caus kwrite does'nt work

this what works for me cause I only have Gnome install and no KDE

Common ones you may have are:
kate - doesn't work
gedit - works
kedit - doesn't works
emacs - works
vi - works
vim -doesn't work

my question is are those text editors in the kde mode if not where

thanks in Adv ...

Hi,

kedit and kate are indeed KDE specific ...
vim is not ...

What is your first language?

Cheers,
