Installing python nicegui on latest Linux (PI OS and (K)Ubuntu)

Can't be this hard, but I can't seem to find an easy way of getting the package nicegui installed for Python. As some of you are aware, pip3 no longer works for PI OS 64 Bookworm and for Ubuntu 23.10. Seems we are being forced to use apt install python3-<package> . Only there isn't one for this package. I don't use or want to use docker.. just plain o' Linux. The pip process was always so nice and easy to use which also picked up all the dependencies needed.

Any ideas?

Exactly what error message you get when you try to run `pip3`?

This is what I get:

Code:
clark@rdbox:~$ sudo pip3 install nicegui
error: externally-managed-environment

× This environment is externally managed
╰─> To install Python packages system-wide, try apt install
python3-xyz, where xyz is the package you are trying to
    install.

If you wish to install a non-Debian-packaged Python package,
    create a virtual environment using python3 -m venv path/to/venv.
Then use path/to/venv/bin/python and path/to/venv/bin/pip. Make
    sure you have python3-full installed.

If you wish to install a non-Debian packaged Python application,
it may be easiest to use pipx install xyz, which will manage a
virtual environment for you. Make sure you have pipx installed.

    See /usr/share/doc/python3.11/README.venv for more information.

note: If you believe this is a mistake, please contact your Python installation or OS distribution provider.
You can override this, at the risk of breaking your Python installation or OS,
by passing --break-system-packages.
I don't see the need for a virtual environment either.

Note I used --break-system-packages and that seemed to work... Today! I tried this yesterday and it said the option didn't exist. Must have spelled wrong or something. Go figure!

problem solved, but not exactly like I'd like.

Code:
$ sudo pip3 install nicegui --break-system-packages

Perhaps it is a distribution-patched pip3?

Maybe this could be a start: https://www.baeldung.com/linux/pip-f...ironment-error
Edit: Nope, it offers the same suboptimal solutions.
