Essentially, they're among some of the last 'official' Pups (built by the 'Puppymaster', Barry K. himself), shortly before the switch to the current Woof-CE build system. They were built with the older T2 build-system. This explains something about how T2 works, assembling a Linux distro from the binary packages of another distribution.....

5.5 was the final stage of Racy (and T2's) mainstream evolution.
I run Racy 5.5 myself (on a 15-yr old, P4-based Dell Inspiron 1100), along with many far newer Pups.....and in some respects, it's much sweeter to use than the current offerings. Lighter; more responsive, too.

Mainstream Puppy switched to the Community Edition of Woof (Woof-CE), although BK has continued to evolve T2 further in his current project series - 'Quirky'. He handed over development of mainstream Pup to the community around 3 years ago, and devotes his 'retirement' to the development of 'off-the'wall' ideas in Quirky.
Hence the name..!

I agree with Roky; it does sound hardware-related. How are you actually attempting to run Pup? As a LiveCD (with saving back to the disc).....or are you intending to use the LiveCD to install Pup to something else?
And to echo Gordie, yes; specs
would be nice. Specs are
GOOD..! (Amongst other things, they give us something to get our teeth into...
