Receiving many subscription emails even with email disabled?

In an effort to reduce clutter in my inbox, I disabled the email notifier for LQ - I still receive 5-10 emails a day as 'instant notification' for site activity though. I cannot find any other setting in the LQ CP to disable - I have unchecked/disabled every email option (including ones that I assume are innocuous like 'Receive email from administrators' or 'Receive email from other users') and still continue to receive email notifications. Either I'm missing a setting somewhere or something doesn't seem to be working as it should.
