XFCE in Mandrake 9.1?

The XFCE package that came with my 9.1 is broken, or for some reason won't work right in 9.1. Does anyone know if Mandrake fixed that problem? Is there a working RPM of XFCE for Mandrake 9.1?

Well, there is an rpm in cooker that does work. I know several people who use XFCE both version 3.3 and version 4. You can get the cooker rpm here: ftp://213.232.94.69/pub/Mandrake/coo...-2mdk.i586.rpm

still doesn't work

I followed your link and downloaded the XFCE from Cooker, and get the same problem I had with the earlier version:
I can't save any settings, like to turn off the annoying sounds. When I log out, XFCE says it can't write to a log. It's like there's something missing. I seem to remember there was a missing library, or a needed library that was incompatible with some aspect of Mandrake 9.1?
If anyone has XFCE working in 9.1, can you tell me how you did it?
THX

Check here: http://www.xfce.org/en/xfce3.html#requirements for a complete list of requirements. Once you have found that, check urpmi that you have them all installed.
