Shutdown Srcipt Questions

I am using OSS and I need to add a command in a shutdown script to save the OSS mixer settings.

Which script would be best for this task?

check /etc/rc.d/ folder for scripts. rc.0 is for runlevel 0 (halt/shutdown?) and rc.6 is for runlevel 6 (reboot).
should be able to just add a line in the appropriate one
