Problem installing Mandriva 2007 Power Pack from DVD
When installing Mandriva 2007 Power Pack from DVD (paid, downloaded from one of the Mandriva ftp mirrors and burned on DVD). After loading Linux Kernel I get the following error message:
Fatal error finishing initialization The Kernel log has several lines with most importantly: ... <6>hda: ATAPI DVD-ROM CD-R/RW drive, 1536kB ache, UDMA(44) ... <3> Buffer I/O error on device hda <6>hda: rw=0, want=8911816, limit=684736 <6>attempt to access beyond end of device My system is a brand new HP with AMD 64/dual core and non OS installed on the 250GB SATA HD. The error appears with both 32bit and 64bit DVD version (I downloaded both). Anybody has a suggestion? |
Welcome to LQ
I hope somebody else has view on this. Similar thread found, no answer http://forum.club.mandriva.com/viewt...63019b2331a4c5 I would suggest these 0) Check the md5 checksum of the download 1) Try another dvd (I mean reburn on another brand. Try a lower speed. 3) Put the sata drive in legacy mode via the bios I found one thread with similar error where there was a bad md5 checksum What software did you use to do the download? (re being sure that the download was not interupted/corrupted) Might be something else |
