MDK 9.2rc1 installing from HD (ISO) problem please help

Ok, seems that there are some problems....

first i found out that the hd.img only takes the first cd iso and not the 2nd and third...

ok yo ucan get a min install with X... some what

then i was told to try and put in the cd2/cd3 main package files etc... into 1... well that failed as the iso would n ot be excepted at all by the install...

so i went back... and was told i could go and mount the iso's and that would work

ok i mounted the iso's like mnt/cd1 mnt/cd2.... etc

i can see them just fine

I go and try to put in the path for that package manager or whatever you call it...

and even if i type in a path the thing locks up or closes... so pretty much im suck and unable to do a clean and good install from HD :(

as i cant get any packages put on there... not even the cd1 is place though it should have because it got it in the install... but it didnt

so i cant do jack...

can someone help me

is there anything special i have to put for the HD paths for the package manager?

if so that would be nice to know:rolleyes:

otherwise its some kind of bug and i cant do nothing about it maybe besides buring the cds which i dont want to do cause its rc1 :P and its much faster from HD and i can try all kinds of stuff etc... any way point being i want to do it from HD

if you have enough space on your hd, you could 'unpack' the isos. Mount your first iso, then copy all the contents to a separate older, say /91rc. There is a subdirectory called Mandrake which contains a directory called RPMS. Now mount your second hardrive and copy the directory RPMS2 into the same subdirectory as RPMS. The same with the third iso. When you start the hd install, instead of giving it the path to the iso, give it the path to /91rc (if that's where you unpacked it). This *should* work.

i had problem it didnt work :( it kept saying it needed "Mandrake/base" even though i gave it the path to that...

this is 9.2rc1

you shouldn't specify the path to Mandrake/base - I think. I think you should just give the path to the parent directory of Mandrake. So if the full path to Mandrake/base is /data/91rc1/Mandrake/base, then the path you tell the installer should be /data/91rc

i dont know if i said this or not but i tried all the paths..

anyway for whatever reason... i finally got it to work...

I did another extraction with isobuster or wahtever that prog is...

and b efore i was using the winimage... which i think doesnt work right... or something like that

and i changed the cluster size from the max of what 32k or 64k? on that fat32 parition that i had extracted to 16k

and it must be one or the other that fixed the problem...

as now it worked etc...

I got to play AA (america's army) game but i have sound issues with my fortissimo III 7.1 sound card...

the sound is bad it just sounds like crap amd distorts or is like too loud...

i guess that will take some time to tweak and set up to work right :(

Get the 9.2 rc2. The bugs have been sorted out. I found so many in rc1 I couldn't use it.

Mainly the printer print-utils hung loading if you defied a printer and logout change user went back to text and you had to login and startx.

I am using 9.2 rc 2 now and it appears to work OK.

im in school now i guess i might be able to wait for rc3 rc4? or just wait for final depending on how fast it will come...
