Mandriva 2010 Media bug questions. Were they ever resolved and how.

I tried out Mandriva 2010 when it was out for about 6 months and had so many media application problems I eightysixed it.

I reinstalled it a few months back with every application that come on a DVD and it worked better. Mplayer works perfect but,

1- Totem will not play wmv files and no one is aware of how to address the demuxer error it gives back.Totem starts a mp3 file and almost immediately crashes. It does not crash if you hold the cursor over a music file icon for the entirety of the song.

2- VLC does not have sound in movies and crashes on MP3 files

There are other media player issues but this is enough for now.

My Question is whether these issues where ever fixed and how was is done? I'm just keeping Mandriva on a drive because of bordom and it has Gnome 2 so I'm not interested in updating.

Thanks for looking at this thread!

Thanks! I'll give that a try

Whatever detects the printer port has stopped working and the color of the top panel has gone technicolor, pretty cool I might add. Same suggestions for those? It seems that Mandriva is corrupting it's own files.I thought the repos for Mandriva 2010 were dead but I'll investigate it further. Edit: just booted it up and the Printer is now detected and it seems that the panel selected a background image on it's own.
