Mandrake Audio Editors....do they exist?

:Pengy: HELP!!

I'm looking for an audio editor similiar to Pro Tools or Cool Edit for the Linux OS. I've tried a couple with no luck on either compiling or in usage, and using one of the previous mentioned suites under WINE hasn't been too successful.

Audacity

Check out Audacity
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

It's pretty simple, but nice for quick jobs.

I also use glame and rezound - both good.

Audio Editors for Mandrake....

Several, at:

Thac's RPMs

I don't know much about "Thac" at all, but I have been installing a bunch of the rpms for Mandrake from his site, and it's well worth it!

Ardour, Rosegarden, Muse, Freqtweak, jack + utilities, etc.

YMMV a lot here - sometimes a new version may crash and burn, sometimes it won't - For instance, I've *never* gotten his build of kguitar to work on any machines of mine. .Even so, it's always a lot easier than setting up to build your own from source just to see what the apps are all about. I've found that installing his 2.4.16 multimedia enhanced kernel both improves system performance and the reliability of the apps he builds. Which leads me to leave you with the following advice:

Use at your own risk, and proceed at your own peril! While I'm sure that "Thac" is an excellent guy, with all the integrity in the world, but I did install his kernel, sans MD5, and I'll never know whether I've just installed a 16 meg version of something worse than Blaster ;)

Probably not...

And of course, enjoy :)

Nope, nothing yet

I've tried all the ones mentioned above and nothing is coming close...I got so frustrated I grabbed a copy of Linodws to get some of these to run on my back-up system. Where are the good multitrack mixer appz a la Pro Tools?

BTW, I'll never stray from my fav distro, Mandrake, anymore...I've learned my lesson now guys...can I get my CDs back?!? :)
