Mandrake 10 community is out

I just noticed that release 10 is out. They decided RC2 was not needed. I could not find the torrents, but I imagine club members have access, or will soon.

Here are the release links (no dowloads yet):

Mandrake doesn't notice anyting on their main site?
Would be cool if it's released, cause i love mandrake
just tried suse 9.0 pro but i really don't like it.

Well, looking at the first link, it shows that the "Official" release will be on the 15th. So we probably won't see anything on the main site until then.

"Schedule estimation"

it's just a planned date
nothing for sure!

colnago 03-02-2004 08:06 PM

They made this Schedule estimation yesterday. Before that, RC2 was listed (for Feb 26th) and Community was for March 1st. Maybe they just forgot to change the community release date and just canned the RC2, but since they updated the 10 release page (I know, the top still says Feb) I think it might be done.

I will look through the cooker lists and see what they say.

anyone found anything else out? I'm pretty excited :D

Redeye2 03-03-2004 10:43 AM

I assume that on the 15th we'll be able to buy the powerpack version?

colnago 03-03-2004 11:13 AM

I checked on the cooker mailing list. It looks like I was a bit over eager to believe the wiki, sorry...

>> As of this morning, Mandrake has dropped the RC2 release from its schedule so that
>> the development cycle will go from RC1 to Community.
>Wiki is not official and you can notice that the edition was not done by a MandrakeSoft

>> Which partly explains the delay in releasing RC2.
>It does not explain at all.

Jakkin 03-03-2004 06:50 PM

will mdk 10 be running 2.6.3?

colnago 03-03-2004 07:35 PM

RC1 came with 2.6.2-3. Maybe this is frozen now?

You can easily get newer, as the mirrors have 2.6.3-4. A new thing with RC1 was the default was back to the 2.4 kernel (2.4.25-0.pre7) and you have to either select 2.6 at boot or change lilo.

Jakkin 03-05-2004 08:33 AM

Are there any other place where we could download the CDs before the 12th? I am dying to install 2.6.3 with better acpi support on my laptop ;)
