Install mandrake 9.1 Sony Vaio PCG-GRT785B
I have tried to install mandrake 9.1 on Sony Vaio PCG-GRT785B but it freezed when I boot with CD I cannot install in text mode too after choosing text or graphical interface it freeze
after that I installed redhat in text mode because its not possible to install with graphical interface then when I boot for first time I couldn't see anything I looked for driver and searched in forums but they all say recompile kernel or something like that I don't know how to recompile kernel if anyone knows how to do it with mandrake or redhat thanks for your help :Pengy: |
i wonder if either their is a setting in bios is screwing with linux OR your laptop has shared memory that linux isn't recognizing as such. there is an option for lilo, something like mem=128 (do a quick search to make sure of syntax). simply subtract the shared memory from your total memory (if you have shared mem). hopefully i've given you something new to try. good luck.
