can't login as regular user (root only)
hi folks,
i've just installed mandrake 9.1, and i was quite impressed, how easy it was. but now, i cannot login as regular user. after 2 sec a screen appears telling me, that something went wrong (some permissions were denied), but this was the user i made during the installation. does this mean anything to you? gracias alex |
in addition my xsession-errors file:
/etc/X11/gdm/PreSession//Default: Registering your session with wtmp and utmp /etc/X11/gdm/PreSession//Default: running: sessreg -a -w /var/log/wtmp -u /var/run/utmp -x "/var/lib/gdm/:0.Xservers" -h "" -l :0 nathan -: line 15: /etc/sysconfig/i18n: Permission denied /bin/bash: line 15: /etc/sysconfig/i18n: Permission denied /etc/X11/Xsession: line 13: /etc/sysconfig/i18n: Permission denied gracias alex |
It is not a question I wouild normally answer but you have been waiting a while.
As it is a new installation and there is no user configuration to lose I would try to work around the problem and add another new user. As root - yes, I know, that is all you can do :) enter the following command in a console # adduser newname Put in a password twice as prompted and then you may find that you can log in as an ordinary user. If not post again. ZB |
