Making a blog here. Too little room for it to be feasible?

So I was seriously considering putting a blog on LQ. (Yes, we each can do it if we're logged in. No, it's not really hidden, it's just not obvious.)

And I would wish to post some images now and again. My problem is the lack of space, 35MB, which can be used for storage of all content I attach to blogs and to forum posts.

35MB isn't much in the grand scheme of things. ~136 images of 256KB (which is the upload size limit.)

So my question is, is there a way to increase storage? I cannot figure out how to delete old stuff. I don't think it's allowed because I'd break the forum topics I've posted/replied to.
I'm not asking for +100GBs. 1GB would be enough for +10 years I'd imagine.

Granted, I could host images elsewhere, but then the other sites will go down after a while and then my blog would be broken.

Ideas?

Thanks!

PS: Being a contributing member doesn't appear to increase storage size.
PPS: Besides, having to pay to post info/tutorials to give back to the community after much research and reading is rather harsh to the poster. Or so I think.

I'd ask to move this post to LQ Suggestions & Feedback, but that's beside the point.

I've tried in the past to post things to the "Member Success Stories" when I got something working/figured something out that wasn't obvious. I'd post the steps and relevant details, but didn't upload any images (although that's an option). That is one path forward, and another would be to host the images somewhere like Dropbox or Google Drive (not using your personal account, of course), and just link them but as you say, it may go down after a while. The thing to consider there is how long information is relevant? Putting something out for Fedora 38 is great now....but in two years or so, it'll be fairly obsolete, so the duration of image hosting may not be an issue long-term.

This is a textual forum, it was always conceived as one, and Jeremy is not going to give every member a GB LOL.

And if you want to offer a one-time fee for 1 GB, then keep in mind that many hosts charge recurring fees for storage.

I was suggesting this just for those few of us who want to take advantage of the blog feature of this website. Of course the forum is text-based*. A blog feature is by no means a normal thing for a forum-based website. In that light, a larger storage amount would be useful IMHO.

Yes, and there are also hosts which allow you to have a "Free website" unless you exceed some specified limit. Suffice it to say that I know I have other choices. I'm trying to make LQ my home blog on purpose. Forgive my forwardness, but I rather like it here.

* There are emojis which violate the pretense, but I'll go along with it since they're not that vital and can be rendered as text for text-based browsers to use.

Hello, thanks for the feedback. We have no plan to offer large amounts of storage, but I have bumped Senior Members to 100M.
