laptop forum needs more answers

looking through the laptop forum i see too many unanswered questions. many of these questions are applicable to desktops as well and im concerned that maybe not as many of the knowledgable people view the laptop forum. i try to answer questions but often i do not know. the biggest problem here being that many new people to lqo may not return if it looks like there isnt activity on their question.

no one is under any obligation to answer questions... if people don't want to answer we can't do anything about it can we? mods will try to go over any thread with no replies, but if they don't know the answer what can they do?

I realy don't see what you expect this to achieve...?

well, more answers i was hoping but um... i guess not
i guess i just wanted to know if you all feel that the main answer givers are viewing the laptop forum cause i know depending on how you get there its kind of disguised on the one list... like a small little blurb in the hardware forum description.
so i dont know, maybe it doesnt have to be a subcategory? or something

As some point it may get moved out of hardware (I see that laptop's now account for more than half of retail PC sales) but as desktop's never had there own forum this is not a garuntee. If you think there is anything else we can do to increase exposure let me know.

Hi Jeremy

First off, thank you for what is BY FAR the best site IMHO, for finding information about Linux.

I don't think that the logic comparing laptops to desktops works, as laptops give a lot more trouble with configuring and setup, due particularly to hardware issues. IMO, for that reason alone, giving more prominance to a laptop forum would go a long way to helping with the general acceptance, and ease of use of Linux on the laptop.

Just my 2p.

:D

i agreee it does need more answers, i would like to suggest that it be made into a different category, instead of a sub category, because its soo small, i dont think many notice it, especially not right awawy

I would think that all the forums need more questions answered - so get answering!

I am doing the best I can over in laptops to help people out (my Hp ze4230 running RH9 rules). A lot of the model specific questions are the problem. How about a sticky at the top of the forum recommending people check for tutorials regarding their specific model on http://linux-laptops.org? That would probably help a few people with some of their issues. And would likely encourage more people to write tutorials for different, currently unlisted, models. (I am writing one for the ze4230 as we speak). Just a thought..
