Deletion of the 1st quote in the instant email notification previews

What about deleting the 1st quote in the instant email notification previews?
Okay quotes are used to give contextualization... But when place is limited (see my other thread at https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ts-4175636904/), I think one is mainly interested by the actual answer.

The issues I foresee with that are:
  1. It's never going to be perfect, for some answers it will be fine, for others it will cut it off
  2. Seeing the one answer that caused the email may not be beneficial or sufficient, there may be other answers, as the email points out, and so you should instead use the email as a bell ringer and go visit the thread
  3. As Jeremy pointed out in your other thread, you can't reply to the email and have that work, so seeing all the details in the email is too much effort for the worth
I've never used the emails as anything besides an alert that there's been activity in a thread.
There turn out to be some threads where there's far too much activity and I'm no longer interested in the topic, no matter how many emails I see about it.
So my first tact on that was to stop the emails.
After a while, I actually began to think, "Well ... why am I subscribed to thousands of forum threads? So I can "not" get an email on them?" For now, my settings do not automatically subscribe me to any threads when I post, and even if it did subscribe me, I would not receive emails anyways. I keep current by visiting the site.
Everyone's different how they use the site. I'm not sure continued tuning of the email alerts would be the best use of the site maintainers' efforts, a thing works, you keep it that way.

Dear ondoho,
I'm new here but was not aware there was some kind of posts quota^^
Is it a problem to report some suggestions to try to make the forum even better in my point of view?

there's no quota, but forum moderation is based on a rather flexible set of rules.
so you just go on telling us how to run this forum until some mod/admin gives you a more offical response.

in my personal opinion, your suggestions are too small to be of significance.
it would behove you to use this forum for a while (say a year or so) before thinking about how to make it better.
right now, i think you are just projecting your personal usage habits. work on that first.

I've been thinking lately about what you wrote and I must admit that you're maybe not so wrong. Indeed, I think it's tempting to dream of a LQ forum customized to one's personal habits. So maybe I've projected a little...
Sorry for that and thank you for your advised answer.
PS: I didn't tell anyone how to run the forum. I'm new here and I am not hiding that fact. My posts were just suggestions to be debated, nothing more ;)
