It's particularly great for books, reports and other professional articles and documentation. What makes Kile really great is that it's not a WYSIWYG editor. It lets you code in LaTeX but provides you with additional enhancements like the autocompletion, syntax highlighting and a complete document navigator which is great for jumping to sections/chapters in large documents.
