9600 / Redhat 9 - works fine !
 

Ive got the radion 9600 working absolutly fine with redhat 9 - plays q3 at 90 fps ( capped :-d ) Ill post a list of rpm's etc if anyone wants to know how to get it working ?

Should work for any other rpm edible distro ;)

i just loaded up RH9.0 for the first time. I have an ATI RADION 9600 pro, but i don't know how to find out what version on xfree86 i have, therefore i don't know how to update the driver for it. once i get the rpm, what do i do with it?

You have to install the rpm's via the command line.

go root :

enter password

If you have the ones off the ati website, try

if that fails, try :

It should install successfully, if so tap in :

If a program pops up ( text mode ), answer questions an write the config file. Note that, you need the right settings for your mouse / sync ranges, etc. My config failed hundereds of times due to my mouse settings being wrong --- ironic, we're trying to get a graphics card to work .. !

anyway, once you've finished the questions, and writen the file, do :

and login again, then :

If you get an error, rerun the config. ( fglrxconfig )

I can't get anything to work. XF86Config won't work because it says permission denied even when i'm a su. I go through the fglrxconfig and it says it writes a xf86config-4 somewhere but i dont' know how to view it or anything. i downloaded the drivers from ati's website. i clicked the rpm icon on my desktop and it said that it installed. i can't figure out what to do.

AhhHaa...got it workin. i'm an idiot.

what did you do to get it working ?

Can you please tell me where to get the drivers fore the Radion 9600.
