Mandrake 9.0 Wireless Works without encryption.. does not with encryption
 

hi.
I just managed to set up my linksys wpc11 pc card on mandrake 9.0.

It works fine when WEP is disabled.

But when i enable WEP, it does not work.

Here are the settings i used for the client card while enabling WEP .

the only thing that changes while disabling WEP is the enc key.
any ideas what configuration i am missing?

Do i have to state that its 128 Bit encryption somewherE? if yes, then where?

1) match the level of encryption on your card to that of the access point.

2) are you setting encryption at both the card and access point?

3) are you mixing ascii and hex in your keys?

I have the same problem with that card and encryption on my Slackware 9.0 distro. When running 'iwconfig' as root, I would at first see the settings, including encryption.

Then, at some point, I would lose the connection (not to mention it was very slow to begin with). Then I would run 'iwconfig' again, and looky-looky, all the settings were gone.



Perhaps its something with the Linksys?

The only solution I've had is to turn off encryption.

TopCat , where exactly are you setting these settings. I am a Mandrake 9.1 newbie, and have a linksys card WPC11 as well. I got the card drivers working ( 2 beeps from config file on bootup) but I need to know wherre to load my access point parameters for the card. I need help locating where and how you added the following :
