Linux Router & Netgear Wireless Router
 

Okay. i need some help with the two mentioned in the subject.

I have a cable modem running through a linux box (2 nics/iptables firewall), with the internal nic running to a linksys switch..

Well, recently my roomates and I decided to go wireless through the house (xboxs, ps2, and other computers)etc. So i bought a Netgear WRGT** Wireless router. Which ever the 54Mbs is.

My problem lies when trying to get both routers talking to each other..

Currently the NG WR is running a 10 network with a link to the 'Internet Port' into the switch that the linux router is running. It is fine for internet (ie. pulls a DHCP (192.168 net) ip and the wireless computers can connect to the internet, but they can't see the computers tied directly to the hub..

Anyone have any suggestions to get both routers to pass data to each other. I have the linux server that the wireless computers can't reach with samba, etc. Only internet.

Any help or Ideas would be great.

Do you mean that the access point is running a dhcp server and giving the wireless clients 10.x.x.x addresses?

You need the netgear set to be a bridge, not a router, so that wireless clients get a 192.168.x.x address from the linux box.

If you want the wireless client machine to be in 10.x.x.x then you will have to set a route on the linux box that sends lan traffic addressed to 10.x.x.x to the wireless router. Windows network neighbourhood will not reliably show the machines in the other subnet but you will be able to access driveshare by ip address.

If the wireless router is set to do NAT (connection sharing) then the LAN machine won't be able to open connections to the wireless clients.
