Hi Guys, I have the Proxim 8471-WD which is the b/g silver card and I can't seem to get it to recognize. It works fine under WinXP. I have tried Mandrake 9.1 and RedHat 9.0
My hermes.conf looks like this. device "orinoco_cs" class "network" module "hermes', "orinoco", "orinoco_cs" # Proxim Orinoco 802.11b/g silver card "Wireless Network PC Card" manfid 0x0126, 0x0013 bind "orinoco_cs" I am trying to follow the steps above but when I run /etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia restart I don't get the beep, the system restarts the service and says "Watching 2 sockets" the wlan pkg compiles and installed with no errors and my card is listed on their list of functioning cards. The orinoco drivers I tried where installed and patched seemingly fine. Can anyone shed some light on what I might be doing wrong. thank you. |
