100% portable Windows system runs from external USB with Linux OS
Hi there
this is an interesting exercise that's quite sasy to do -- make a 100% portable Windows system that runs entirely off an external HDD - even if there's no HDD in the main computer or it's broken. This example uses an OPENSUSE 13.1 live distro - but any other typical live distro will work. It will create a NON UEFI portable system that will run on UEFI systems - enable legacy boot and switch off protected boot. The problem with UEFI systems is that GRUB install (GRUB2-EFI) doesn't allow you to install it on the external HDD at install time -- it always writes to the internal HDD. GRUB2 however (the non UEFI version) can be written where you like and the idea is NOT to TOUCH the INTERNAL HDD). Enjoy. cheers |
Thanks for posting the nfo.

I think one would still be in violation of the license terms.
As such, not really an acceptable post. |
