Texas Linux Fest Dead?

Don't know any other place to post.

Website hasn't been updated since 2020. Twitter doesn't show any recent traffic for the 2023 event.

I went to the one in Austin in 2018 and Dallas in 2019. I really enjoyed myself, learned alot and kick myself that i didn't go sooner (suffer from imposter syndrome).

Anyone know what is going on?

Is it the same demise that most of the LUGs have faced over time?

I think it was stopped because of the pandemic.

So its not going to resume now that things are kind of back to normal?

Don't see a way to edit my post, but I posted my question to r/austin. Got an answer.

There's a limit to how long posts are editable for; I think it's two weeks.

But in any case editing would have been the wrong thing to do, since it wouldn't notify anyone who might have subscribed to the thread - only new posts do that.

And to save others visiting Reddit, here's what the answer says:

I used to help organize TXLF so I'm happy to see someone ask about it. But the problem is that it's a huge PITA to run a volunteer-based conference. You have to find sponsors to donate tens of thousands of dollars, you have to find a venue, you have to find speakers, you have to find and direct other volunteers, etc etc. Basically hundreds of hours as a labor of love. Everyone who organizes does it for a year or two and burns out, and unless someone else steps up, the conference dies.
