WindowMaker crashes after installing nVIDIA drivers
I recently installed the nVIDIA drivers for my Geforce2 MX 400 and since then WindowMaker locks up every time I run an application. No matter what I open, say a terminal or OpenOffice, everything freezes except my mouse, Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't work and I'm forced to reboot. I'm now using KDE and have no problems. Has anyone experienced this kind of thing before? I'm not particularly attached to WM but I would like to understand what is going on.

After having crashed, log into init 1 (pass single to your
linux image at the lilo-prompt) and copy ~/.xsession-errors and /var/log/XFree86.0.log to some safe place and look at them :) Cheers, Tink |
Well, try reinstalling WindowMaker, as that worked for me one time when WindowMaker repeatedly crashed. It was through a blackout though, and not because of nvidia drivers, which I like.
