Understanding of Jitter in NetEm
 

Hello everyone,
I am currently working on the network emulation NetEm as part of my research in the area of communication networks. For an experiment I want to use the NetEm network emulator (https://wiki.linuxfoundation.org/networking/netem). However, I have problems understanding the functionality of this software.
In particular, I find it difficult to distinguish between the terms (uncorrected) standard deviation and jitter. Do I understand that these terms are used synonymously?
Are there any experts out there?
