Trying to Jupyter Notebook, GIMP and Openshot to create simple videos for teaching purposes

The title pretty well summarizes my component products strategy (right or wrong, or too complicated or whatever).

So, I take a GIMP screenshot of the Notebook in question, save it with the .xcf extension, but OpenShot does not recognize the file as video, photo or sound.
Since I am new to this product suite, I must be failing to do something to the screenshot to make it palatable for OpenShot. Can you guys help me out? Thks.

PS. Any other comments/suggestions highly appreciated: beggars can't be choosers.

You need to use "Export As" in the File dropdown menu instead of Save or Save As. This allows You to Export as many different formats such as jpeg, png, bmp, and many more.

Thks Mill J, it worked: saved as .png file.

OK, now I am going to choose the voice recorder for the Debian Buster and see if I can make a decent video out of the ensemble.
If I get this prototype working, then I can go ahead with the meat of the project. Thanks again for your prompt support.

I use audacity & openshot to create videos, using a USB mic to record with. :)
