Trying to install ngSPICE, please help
First, I'll say that I'm very new to Linux. I am running Ubuntu 5.10. I'm trying to install ngSPICE for school. I already installed automake and autoconf successfully. The last requirement for ngSPICE is libtool. I downloaded libtool 1.5.22. when i try to configure by typing "./configure", i get the following error..
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c checking whether build environment is sane... yes checking for gawk... no checking for mawk... mawk checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes checking for gcc... gcc checking for C compiler default output file name... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables See `config.log' for more details. Here is my 'config.log' file... It was created by libtool configure 1.5.22, which was generated by GNU Autoconf 2.59c. apt-get install libtool ??? (For that matter - what is wrong with dapper or edgy?) For ngspice - why not use the pre-packaged version: (used to be in the universe repo) ngspice_17.0.0-1_i386.deb ... from: http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...ckage_id=31152 sudo dpkg -i ngspice_17.0.0-1_i386.deb I notice these are 2005 builds... what is wrong with gnucap (+ oregano)? |
ng-Spice is available in the Hoary (whatever version of Ubuntu that is) repository. It is more commonly available as part of the gEDA suite of tools. gEDA is available from all of the Ubuntu repositories.

Some odd problem in your configure script:
/usr/bin/ld: crt1.o: No such file: No such file or directory crt1.o does not exist, so the linker (ld) reports this. Is this the configure script from ng-spice-rework-17.tar.gz ? (this tarball can be downloaded from http://ngspice.sourceforge.net/download.html) |
