Postfix / Warnings hostname verification failed: Host not found
 
i have a postfix mail server installed on Fedora Core 2 (using RPM). My pflogsumm log report shows this message but i don't know what it means / what if any action i should take.

message reject warning detail: none

message hold detail: none

message discard detail: none

smtp delivery failures: none

It looks like your DNS resolution is not working. Could you post the contents of /etc/resolv.conf ? Are you running a name server on the same machine as postfix? Can you resolv other hostnames (can you ping msn.com or debian.org?) ?

/etc/hosts and missing host.named file
 
I think you put me ont he right track. There were two problems.

1. Missing the "localhost" in /var/named referenced by named.conf

2. missing "localhost" in my /etc/resolv.conf file

3. before when i would restart the named service, i would get a log entry
