Audio CDs will only play in xine or kaffeine if I am connected to the internet
My audio CDs will only play in xine and kaffeine if I am connected to the internet. When I am not connected the programs immediately shut down when I hit the play CD button ? with one exception, which is the very first CD I played in kaffeine after installing the program. That will always play whether I am connected to the internet or not. I can't find any configuration settings in either xine or kaffeine to enable CDs to play when I am not connected, which I would like to be able to do. Does anyone know how I get round this problem?
I have no difficulty whatsoever playing DVDs when not connected the net. My kaffeine version is 0.4.2; KDE version is 3.1.4; xine version is 1_rc3c; xine-ui version is 0.9.23 ; Xfree86 version is 4.3.0.1. I am using SuSE Personal 9.0 on an hp pavilion ze4505 laptop. |
I guess that your program is trying to fetch track information from CDDB or similar. Try disabling this feature and see if that solves your problem.
-edit- Do you get the same problem in xmms? |
Hi Muzzy
Thanks. It was a cddb problem and I have now managed to fix it. I turned the option off by going to ~/.xine.config and changing #input.cdda_use_cddb:1 to input.cdda_use_cddb:0 That sorted xine, and then for kaffeine I went to that program's "settings, xine engine parameters, input tab" and switched off the "cdda_use_cddb" option. CDs play fine now in both programs without needing an internet connection. By the way, I haven't tried xmms but the CDs play OK in kscd. Cheers |
You're welcome :)
