Windows Malware and Linux

Hi! I know you're going to say I have too much time on my hands, and you're probably right, but I was musing the other day. I double boot Linux Mint and Windows 10. I wondered if by opening an e-mail in linux, stupidly from somebody I don't know, if malware could be placed on my computer by idiotically clicking on a link in the e-mail. Hold on. I know linux and windows are different codes, but what if you're running Wine? Could the malware then infect the computer? As you can access the windows partition from linux, could the malware procure your info from your windows data? Maybe for a denial of service attack, or something that doesn't involve running linux commands specifically. Could malware be coded to run in linux and/or windows? As I said, it's just a thought. Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes.

To add to that, you should run anti malware on both.

Thanks for the response. I didn't use thunderbird in linux, and I delete e-mails I don't recognize. I was just curious if Wine opened up a computer to infection. Thanks.

Wine can be used to infect your machine.

If you need Windows for certain things, why not sandbox it by running it in a virtual machine?

Thanks for the response. I still use windows for most of my computing. I use linux mainly for Devede, best program for burning dvds from mkv.
