Trusted Computing Platform, Palladium and the Consortium
 

Having read Ross Anderson's great TCPA FAQ, along with some other TCPA and Palladium information (I'd post the URLs, but this is only my 2nd post, so I am not allowed to do so), I am still left with some questions. I hope that someone here at LQ has looked into this and can answer my concerns. Firstly, having installed Linux on my system, is it possible or even legal to disable TCPA on my platform? Secondly, how can I determine whether or not my system even supports TCPA?
Even if no-one answers me, I urge all who read this to fight against both the TCPA and Palladium, if they have not done so already. These will do to Linux what Nero did to Rome. If left unabated, they will kill Linux. The warning of Orwell's "Nineteen-Eighty Four" has been ignored once already. Only we, the end users, the consumers, the programmers, the administrators, the newbies, can make a difference. Only we can save that for which Linux stands for, and save it from what Palladium and TCPA would ravage it with! Let us not let Linux die.

Note: For legal issues (About disabling TCPA, etc.) I am, for all intents and purposes, a permanent resident of Canada.

I'm not aware that "trusted computing" has made it out into the wild yet. But even so, it's YOUR computer, not anybody else's.

My understanding is that if you disable it you will lose access to data that wants it. Since you don't live in the USA you aren't likely to fall victim to their insane laws anyway.
